TRANSLATION CENTER

ABOUT THE TRANSLATING & INTERPRETING CENTER

Our Translating & Interpreting Centre provides Indonesian-English and English-Indonesian translation services, both written and oral (direct and communicative). The minimum requirement for our translators and interpreters is a bachelor’s degree from a reputable university, but some have master’s degrees as well. Our translators and interpreters have various backgrounds, giving the Centre expertise in a wide variety of topics. They are punctual, dedicated and committed to correctness and accuracy.

Proofreading is one of the key elements to excellent translation results. Our proofreaders possess 10 years or more experience in teaching Indonesian to foreigners and are experienced in selecting and using words, idioms, phrases, and language styles appropriate to a wide range of target readers. Professional proofreading service is included in written document translation.

While translating is intense, focused work, interpreters must not only be masters of English and Indonesian, they must be able to simultaneously hear and digest information, compress it, and repeat it in the target language without losing meaningful aspects. In many situations, such as seminars, workshops, and business meetings, the speaker continues speaking without pausing for interpretation. Our experienced interpreters are professional and capable of providing accurate interpretation service, both direct and consecutive. Our main objective is to provide our clients the best translations and interpreting possible, as we believe that even a small mistake could bring about a large gap in the meaning. We believe that accurate translations promote better communications and minimize gaps caused by language barriers.

DOCUMENT TRANSLATION

All Documents to be translated begin with a Project Director who ever sees the project from beginning to end. The Project Director determines which translator(s) is most qualified for the project based on his or her background and experience related to the topic. Before beginning the translation process, the Project Director meets with the translator(s) to standardize technical terms, idioms, and phrases that will be used in the document. Based on the deadline specified by the client, the translator(s) will start the translation process immediately after the meeting. After the process is complete, the translator(s) forwards the document to the proof-reader.

This second fresh look from the proof-reader ensures that the sentences used in the translation are grammatically correct and the terminologies used are suitable for the target readers. Upon completion of this process, the proof-reader forwards the work to the Project Director. The Project Director performs the final check on all documents.
