INDONESIAN COURSE
Since 1987 our Indonesian Language Centre has been the learning venue for students from all walks of life, ranging from high school and university students to executives, and from medical professionals to ambassadors.
While we are dedicated to providing the highest standards of professionalism and excellence in teaching, the atmosphere on our campus is friendly and relaxed, which we believe is the most conducive approach to learning. Each student at Realia is given personal care and attention and is encouraged to achieve their fullest potential and to enjoy the learning process.
Our courses for academic and professional purposes meet the standards of Monash University Australia, Asia Pacific Education Centre, University of Tasmania, The Australian Defence School of Languages, RAAF (Royal Australian Air Force) Base Williams, and The British Diplomatic Language Training Service.
We are very proud and honored to have been the language school of choice for newly appointed ambassadors from the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. Other countries that have sent their ambassadors to Realia for Indonesian language training are: United States, Denmark, Canada, and Belgium.
TEACHING AND TEACHERS
The teaching methodology we use is skills-based, meaning the 4 macro-skills – speaking, listening, reading, and writing – are incorporated into each lesson rather than taught separately. Grammar, sentence structure and vocabulary development are taught across all the skills.
In teaching, we use a communicative approach. Learners speak whatever level of Indonesian they are able to with the teachers, bringing “real-life” communications into the classroom both constantly and actively. This method encourages students to express themselves in the manner that best meets their own communication needs.
All courses are run by highly trained and experienced, friendly teachers who understand the importance of learning through the method of engagement. We know, having studied second languages ourselves, how vital it is for students to be interested in the topic source to learn quickly and effectively. At Realia, students are motivated through the use of various media to ensure that the needs of each individual are addressed.
For all levels of the Intensive Course – Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced – each student is taught by 5 or 6 teachers on an alternating basis. Although the teaching method is the same for all teachers, the objective is to familiarize the students with different accents, personalities and ways of expression. While most teachers are from Java and may give the students Javanese perspective, there are several from the other major and outer islands with different viewpoints.
COURSES
Realia offers a comprehensive range of courses to suit all language needs and levels. Our courses range from beginner to advance and are either general purpose or custom tailored to specific needs. All levels of our Intensive Courses include field trips to support the learning process. Learners accompanied by a teacher may visit their choice of historic sites, traditional markets, villages, home industries or other relevant places of interest, giving them the opportunity to practice their language skills. All courses are based on individual instruction or small classes of maximum 4 students. For small classes, tuition sharing must be arranged by the participants.
