ABOUT US

For 23 years our Indonesian Language Centre has been the learning venue for students from all walks of life, ranging from high school and university students to executives, and from medical professionals to ambassadors.

While we are dedicated to providing the highest standards of professionalism and excellence in teaching, the atmosphere on our campus is friendly and relaxed, which we believe is the most conducive approach to learning. Each student at Realia is given personal care and attention and is encouraged to achieve their fullest potential and to enjoy the learning process.

Our courses for academic and professional purposes meet the standards of Monash University Australia, Asia Pacific Education Centre, University of Tasmania, The Australian Defence School of Languages, RAAF (Royal Australian Air Force) Base Williams, and The British Diplomatic Language Training Service.

We are very proud and honored to have been the language school of choice for newly appointed ambassadors from the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. Other countries that have sent their ambassadors to Realia for Indonesian language training are: United States, Denmark, Canada, and Belgium.

TEACHING AND TEACHERS

The teaching methodology we use is skills-based, meaning the 4 macro-skills – speaking, listening, reading, and writing – are incorporated into each lesson rather than taught separately. Grammar, sentence structure and vocabulary development are taught across all the skills.

In teaching, we use a communicative approach. Learners speak whatever level of Indonesian they are able to with the teachers, bringing “real-life” communications into the classroom both constantly and actively. This method encourages students to express themselves in the manner that best meets their own communication needs.

All courses are run by highly trained and experienced, friendly teachers who understand the importance of learning through the method of engagement. We know, having studied second languages ourselves, how vital it is for students to be interested in the topic source to learn quickly and effectively. At Realia, students are motivated through the use of various media to ensure that the needs of each individual are addressed.

For all levels of the Intensive Course – Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced – each student is taught by 5 or 6 teachers on an alternating basis. Although the teaching method is the same for all teachers, the objective is to familiarize the students with different accents, personalities and ways of expression. While most teachers are from Java and may give the students Javanese perspective, there are several from the other major and outer islands with different viewpoints.

ABOUT THE TRANSLATING & INTERPRETING CENTER

Our Translating & Interpreting Centre provides Indonesian-English and English-Indonesian translation services, both written and oral (direct and communicative). The minimum requirement for our translators and interpreters is a bachelor’s degree from a reputable university, but some have master’s degrees as well. Our translators and interpreters have various backgrounds, giving the Centre expertise in a wide variety of topics. They are punctual, dedicated and committed to correctness and accuracy.

Proofreading is one of the key elements to excellent translation results. Our proofreaders possess 10 years or more experience in teaching Indonesian to foreigners and are experienced in selecting and using words, idioms, phrases, and language styles appropriate to a wide range of target readers. Professional proofreading service is included in written document translation.

While translating is intense, focused work, interpreters must not only be masters of English and Indonesian, they must be able to simultaneously hear and digest information, compress it, and repeat it in the target language without losing meaningful aspects. In many situations, such as seminars, workshops, and business meetings, the speaker continues speaking without pausing for interpretation. Our experienced interpreters are professional and capable of providing accurate interpretation service, both direct and consecutive. Our main objective is to provide our clients the best translations and interpreting possible, as we believe that even a small mistake could bring about a large gap in the meaning. We believe that accurate translations promote better communications and minimize gaps caused by language barriers.

DOCUMENT TRANSLATION

All Documents to be translated begin with a Project Director who ever sees the project from beginning to end. The Project Director determines which translator(s) is most qualified for the project based on his or her background and experience related to the topic. Before beginning the translation process, the Project Director meets with the translator(s) to standardize technical terms, idioms, and phrases that will be used in the document. Based on the deadline specified by the client, the translator(s) will start the translation process immediately after the meeting. After the process is complete, the translator(s) forwards the document to the proof-reader.

This second fresh look from the proof-reader ensures that the sentences used in the translation are grammatically correct and the terminologies used are suitable for the target readers. Upon completion of this process, the proof-reader forwards the work to the Project Director. The Project Director performs the final check on all documents.

We deliver excellent quality translations in a wide range of formats on a variety of topics, such as:

Types of Documents
Books, brochures, newsletters, pamphlets, manuals, catalogues, guide books, maps, diagrams, websites, presentation media, promotional media, certificates, training materials, handouts, proposals and reports.

We know that what you need is a training program that is flexible and adapts to your priority business, travel and family commitments. Our course is flexible in the sense that you can decide the programme, the size, the time, the intensity, and the location.

We offer a comprehensive range of courses to suit all language needs and levels. Our courses range from beginner to advance and all programs are customized to the individual client based on the needs analysis. Details of the course content are decided upon after we have talked to you about what you need to learn.

The course is both individual instruction and small groups of with a maximum of 4 students. (Note: tuition sharing must be arranged by the participants)

The time can be in the early morning, during the day, or in the evening, anytime between 7.30 am to 08.00 pm, from Monday to Saturday.

The lesson can be Intensive (4-6 hours per day, with a total of 20 – 30 hours per week), Semi Intensive (2 – 3 hours per day, with a total of 10 – 15 hours per week) or Non-Intensive (1, 5 – 6 hours per week with minimum of 90 minutes per session).

The location is either at your home or at the office, to suit your own specific situation (Note: In Jakarta we do not have a campus; we deliver the lessons to your premises)

Our commitment is to make every attempt to work with you to create an optimal situation and schedule. We understand that occasionally you may have to cancel at short notice, or re-arrange a training session due to other commitments – in this case you will not be charged, providing we have 24 hours’ notice or it is within the time frame agreed by both student and teacher.

Please let us know when you would like to start, where you would like to have the lesson, the number of hours per sessions and the frequency per week. Indicate also the level of tuition and the background in which you are going to communicate in Bahasa Indonesian.

For further information please contact Dyah at Realia.jakarta@gmail.com or to my cell phone 0811293193.

We look forward to help you learn Bahasa Indonesian.
